I love this! How many times have you been enthralled reading a book, then sat in stunned amazement as you arrived at the very last page. Kelly O’Connor McNees took it an extra step. She viewed an unsatisfying book ending as Inspiration and wrote her own novel. And then McNees took a further step and made sure her new novel had a very funny trailer to introduce her book to the online world. Even the credits at the end made me laugh, and the video’s music is especially lively and wonderful.

The book trailer is a wonderful idea. Without it, this novel may have taken years before it landed on my radar. However, with the trailer I became aware of the book within the same month it was published and I am eager to read it. I am going to suggest a book trailer to a friend who is ready to publish.

In her debut novel, The Lost Summer of Louisa May Alcott, Kelly O’Connor McNees deftly mixes fact and fiction as she imagines a summer lost to history, carefully purged from Louisa’s letters and journals, a summer that would change the course of Louisa’s writing career—and inspire the story of love and heartbreak between Jo and Teddy “Laurie” Laurence, Jo’s devoted neighbor and kindred spirit.
